QuirkLocal was founded in 2022 by Josh Vanderberg, a veteran technologist with deep experience building complex interactive web experiences. A serial entrepreneur, Josh left a successful software as a service provider he co-founded in 2009 to finally create something in the space he’d always been passionate about.

A voracious early adopter of every new social technology, from the very beginnings of email and IRC to our modern moment of Facebook and TikTok, Josh has deeply engaged with these platforms, learning their ins and outs, looking to find a unique and impactful application. QuirkLocal is the result of the combination of this lifelong fascination with social media with a deep passion for citizen journalism and love of his local community.
